When Old Vatted Glenlivet 1862 was distilled among Scottish hills, the world was just in the middle of the age of steam, undergoing changes driven by the Industrial Revolution. Factories fully equipped with machinery transformed the faces of individual countries, large steamships crossed the Atlantic Ocean and the railway finally connected remote metropolises. A bottle of this extremely rare spirit, which can take us back to this long-forgotten world, was opened thanks to the cooperation of Wealth Solutions and Louis Moinet. The former is an expert in building up collections of rare alcoholic beverages, works of art, and watches, while the latter specializes in creating limited editions of timepieces. Louis Moinet is an independent watch brand located in Saint-Blaise in Switzerland. The company’s mission has been to combine the art of decoration with advanced technologies.
The ceremony of opening the oldest bottle of whisky was part of an unusual project called the Whisky Watch. Wealth Solutions is the originator of the Spirit Watches line, i.e. extraordinary watches with drops of unique alcoholic beverages inside. So far, the company, in cooperation with different independent Swiss watchmakers, has released the Cognac Watch (a watch with a drop of the oldest cognac in the world – Gautier 1762) and the Rum Watch (a watch with a drop of the oldest rum in the world – Harewood 1780). After the Watches became a huge success, Wealth Solutions has decided to continue the production of the Spirit Watches line and to create the Whisky Watch – the Swiss mechanical collectors’ watch with a drop of the oldest whisky in the world. Wealth Solutions has invited the cooperation the Louis Moinet, which is well known for the creation of high-end timepieces, often featuring exotic materials and an innovative technology, underpinned by the philosophy of limited edition mechanical art.
Old Vatted Glenlivet 1862 is a genuine unique beverage which was used in the project by the courtesy of Sukhinder Singh, a famous British collector of rare alcoholic beverages and owner of The Whisky Exchange. The bottle opening ceremony took place on 14th March 2017, in the presence of a Notary Public. It was hosted by the luxury five star H15 Boutique Hotel in the Historic Hall, situated in a XIX century building in Warsaw. It was attended by: Charles MacLean, a whisky expert, writer and Master of the Quaich, Edward Bates, a spirits expert and Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac educator, Jean-Marie Schaller, the founder and creator of Louis Moinet, Michał Kowalski, Deputy President of Wealth Solutions, and Łukasz Baranowski, Deputy President of Wealth Solutions.
The world’s premiere of the Whisky Watch will take place in first half of April.
